EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning by EDF EN Canada, its local subsidiary, of Lac-Alfred phase 2 wind farm, with an installed capacity of 150 MW. This brings Lac-Alfred's total capacity up to 300 MW amongst the largest in Quebec.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lac-Alfred wind farm is now fully operational after two years of construction work, with a further 150 MW of capacity added to the original 150 MW commissioned in January 2013. With its total capacity, Lac-Alfred generates green energy equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 70,000 homes.<\/p>\n

Lac-Alfred is co-owned by EDF EN Canada and Enbridge Inc. on a 50\/50 basis. The electricity generated is purchased by Hydro-Quebec under a 20-year power purchase agreement.<\/p>\n

The 150 wind turbines (75 for each phase) were supplied by manufacturer REpower. EDF Renewable Services, a local subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, will operate and maintain the wind farm under a long-term Operations & Maintenance contract.<\/p>\n

With Saint-Robert-Bellarmin (80 MW), Massif du Sud (150 MW) and Lac-Alfred (300 MW) wind farms, EDF Energies Nouvelles has completed over half of its 1 GW program won under the Hydro-Quebec Distribution calls for tender in 2008 and 2010.<\/p>\n
