Ultimately, the project may have up to 100 MW in capacity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"detail-content\">\n<p>The Blyth project is located off the coast of Northumberland, in north-east England.<br \/>\nThe first part of the project, which will have 41.5 MW in installed capacity, will consist of 5 MHI Vestas offshore Wind turbines. Led by EDF Energy Renewables, the group&#039;s UK subsidiary, offshore construction work is due to begin in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Implementation of this project will enable the group to use cutting-edge offshore technologies in real conditions (eg latest-generation turbines, innovative gravity base foundations, 66kV cables), and to increase its expertise in upgrading installation, commissioning, operating and maintaining procedures for offshore wind turbines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrawing on our experience in building offshore wind farms in the United Kingdom (Teesside) and Belgium (C-Power) and developing three projects in France, EDF Energies Nouvelles intends to continue contributing to innovation in this sector.<br \/>\nThe Blyth project is offering a further opportunity to fine-tune our expertise in offshore wind farms\u201d, stated Antoine Cahuzac, Senior Executive Vice President in Renewable Energies of EDF and Chief Executive Officer of EDF Energies Nouvelles.<\/p>\n<div class=\"d-about\"><strong>About EDF Energies Nouvelles<\/strong>EDF Energies Nouvelles is a market leader in renewable energy electricity, with a portfolio of more than 9 GW gross installed capacity focused for the most part on wind (onshore and offshore) and solar photovoltaic energy.
