Its new local subsidiary, EDF EN Chile, signed a financing contract and concluded a partnership agreement for a 146 MWp photovoltaic solar project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"detail-content\">\n<p>Chile, 20<sup>th<\/sup> country where EDF Energies Nouvelles operates, offers strong development potential. The group&#039;s presence in this emerging market is part of the Chilean Government&#039;s ambitions to produce 20% of electricity in the country from renewable energies by 2025, to meet growing energy demand. In addition, the country benefits from natural conditions that are particularly favorable to the development of renewable energies.<\/p>\n<p>EDF EN Chile has undertaken the implementation of its first solar power plant project, Laberinto, with an installed capacity of 146 MWp. Located in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile, this project benefits from the highest level of solar radiation in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The project is jointly owned equally by EDF Energies Nouvelles and Marubeni. EDF Energies Nouvelles has obtained long-term project financing from a consortium made up of local and international banks.<\/p>\n<p>The construction and operation and maintenance of the solar power plant will be carried out by a local subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles dedicated to these activities.<\/p>\n<p>The Laberinto photovoltaic installation will be one of the most powerful solar power plants in the world to sell its electricity production on the spot (\u201cmerchant\u201d) market.<\/p>\n<p>It will be connected to the Northern Chile Interconnected System (SING).<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cBy establishing itself on the South American continent, recently in Brazil, then now in Chile, EDF Energies Nouvelles has achieved one of its objectives which consists of developing its activity in the field of renewable energies, in emerging countries with strong development potential. The Laberinto solar power plant is the perfect example.
