End of construction on the C-Power offshore wind farm, in Belgium

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the completion of the construction of the C-Power offshore wind farm, with a capacity of 325 MW, built in Belgium within the Belgian consortium C-Power.

The installation of the 54th turbine of this large-scale offshore park, construction of which began in 2008, has now been completed.

Located approximately 30 kilometers off the coast of Zeebrugge, on the Thorntonbank sandbank, the C-Power offshore wind farm was built in three phases: the first six turbines totaling 30 MW have been in operation since June 2009; the following thirty turbines representing 184.5 MW entered service in December 2012; the eighteen turbines of this last tranche of 110.7 MW are now installed, marking the end of the construction of this ambitious project in which EDF Energies Nouvelles holds a stake of 9.1 %.

From September 2013, all turbines will operate at full capacity, ensuring the annual energy supply of more than 600,000 inhabitants and thus avoiding the emission of 450,000 tonnes of carbon into the environment.
