EDF Renewables and the SITAC group continue the expansion of their activities in India with the commissioning of a new 105 MW wind farm

EDF Renewables and its partner SITAC announce the commissioning of the Verdant project, a new wind farm in India with an installed capacity of 105 MW.
This achievement contributes to the Indian government's goal of achieving 175 GW of renewable energy generation capacity by 2022.

Located in the state of Gujarat, one of the windiest regions in India, the Verdant wind farm is made up of 50 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 105 MW.

Its production will cover the equivalent of the annual energy needs of more than 300,000 Indian households and will save around 360,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

The development, financing and construction of the wind farm was carried out by SITAC Management & Development Pvt. Ltd., the joint company of EDF Renewables and
SITAC group dedicated to the development of wind power in India.

The Verdant project won the auction organized by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd in December 2017. (GUVNL), the state electricity distribution company of Gujarat, for
the award of a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a period of 25 years.

Construction of the facility took place over 18 months and mobilized more than 300 local workers, generating significant economic benefits for this rural region of Gujarat.

Through their teams in Delhi and Gujarat, EDF Renewables India and SITAC now own and operate 270 MW of wind capacity and are about to launch
the construction of a 300 MW project.

Frédéric Belloy, International Director of EDF Renewables, declared: “Six years after its entry into India, a country in which the EDF Group has great ambitions, EDF Renewables today has nearly 1,500 MW of gross wind and solar capacity under construction or in operation. We are thus contributing to the CAP 2030 corporate strategy which aims to double its renewable capacity on a global scale between 2015 and 2030 to reach more than 50 GW net.”

Mr. Malvinder Singh, Founder and Chairman, SITAC Group, said: “The Verdant project is the sixth project carried out with EDF Renewables in India. This demonstrates our ability
of execution. This is an important milestone that illustrates a strong presence with our partners in the renewable energy market in India. »
