EDF Energies Nouvelles signs an electricity sales contract for a 111 MW solar project in the United States

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the signing of a long-term electricity supply contract (PPA: Power Purchase Agreement) between its North American subsidiary, EDF Renewable Energy, and Southern California Edison, a local electricity company.
This contract concerns electricity generated by the future Valentine solar power plant, with a capacity of 111.2 MW*, to be built in California.

Located in the Mojave Desert in California, the Valentine solar project covers nearly 510 hectares. It is adjacent to the Catalina photovoltaic power plant (143 MWp), fully commissioned in 2013 by the EDF Energies Nouvelles group.

The region is one of the most favorable in the United States for the development of solar energy. It benefits from favorable natural conditions and the desire of the State of California to increase its ambitions in terms of renewable energy development.

The future solar installation is the subject of a 15-year PPA, signed with Southern California Edison.

To date, EDF Energies Nouvelles operates 917 MWp gross of solar capacity in eight countries and has launched the construction of two other large-scale solar power plants in Chile (Laberinto project of 146 MWp) and in India (project in the state of Telangana of 96 MWp).

*The contract relates specifically to installed power expressed in MWac, a unit of measurement for alternating current. 111.2 MW is equivalent to approximately 115 MWp (direct current).
