EDF Energies Nouvelles continues its investments in Texas

EDF Renewable Energy, the American subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, announces that it is exercising its option to purchase 49% of the shares of a 161 MW wind project, until now co-owned and developed in partnership with Cielo Wind Power. EDF Renewable Energy now owns 100% of the Spinning Spur II project, located in Texas.

Equipped with 87 General Electric turbines with a unit power of 1.85 MW, the future Spinning Spur II park will extend over an area of more than 16 hectares in Oldham County. Construction should begin in June 2013 with commissioning expected during the summer of 2014.

The Spinning Spur II wind farm will be among the first projects to be connected to one of the new North Texas Panhandle connections, known as CREZs (Competitive Renewable Energy Zones). renewable energy"). The electricity generated by the park will be sold at a fixed price for the first 10 years of the project.

The renewal of the tax credit “ Production Tax Credit » granted to wind farms commissioned or under construction in 2013, promotes partnerships with developers such as Cielo Wind Power and gives the EDF Energies Nouvelles group the opportunity to strengthen its positions in promising territories such as Texas with a deposit quality wind power.

After the Spinning Spur I (161 MW) and Bobcat Bluff (150 MW) wind farms commissioned in December 2012, the Spinning Spur II project will be the third EDF Energies Nouvelles installation in Texas, bringing the capacity of the Group to 472 MW gross in this state of the United States.
