EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of four wind farms in the United States, with a cumulative installed capacity of more than 708 MW.
Furthermore, the Group is accelerating in solar energy in North America in 2016, notably with a new project in the United States of 150 MWac.
This contributes to the EDF Group's strategy, CAP 2030, aiming to double its renewable capacities by 2030.
Four new wind projects in the United States
Between December 2016 and January 2017, the following were successively installed in the United States:
- The Tyler Bluff (125.6 MW) and Salt Fork (174 MW) wind farms, located in northern Texas;
- The Great Western wind farm (225 MW), in the northeast of the state of Oklahoma;
- The Kelly Creek wind farm (184 MW), in the northeast of the state of Illinois.
Three of these projects are part of a policy of commitment by large multinational companies to reducing their carbon footprint, a strong sector trend in the United States:
- The majority (96 MW) of the energy produced by Tyler Bluff was the subject of a contract signed with Procter & Gamble which will supply renewable electricity to all of its North American production sites dedicated to healthcare. linen and household;
- Great Western will supply renewable electricity to a nearby Google-owned data center;
- Salesforce has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for part of Salt Fork's production (24 MW).
Solar resurgence in North America
EDF Energies Nouvelles has signed a new electricity supply contract (PPA) with MCE (Marin Clean Energy) for the Desert Harvest solar project (150 MWac) in the United States, in the south of the state of California.
In 2016, EDF Energies Nouvelles won nearly 351 MWac of large-scale solar projects in Mexico and the United States to be installed by 2019, and launched into the distributed solar market through the acquisition of Grosolar.
