EDF EN Canada, the local subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, announces the signing of an agreement concerning the acquisition of 50% of the shares of the Saint-Robert-Bellarmin wind power plant (80 MW) by Enbridge, operating energy supplier on the North American continent.
Located in the province of Quebec, the Saint-Robert-Bellarmin wind farm is the first park installed by EDF Energies Nouvelles in Canada. Commissioned in October 2012, this park supplies electricity to the equivalent of 18,000 homes in Quebec. Electricity production is sold to Hydro-Québec Distribution under a 20-year electricity supply contract.
“After the successful operations carried out in Canada on the Lac-Alfred, Massif-du Sud and Blackspring Ridge wind farms, we are pleased to once again engage with Enbridge in a co-shareholder relationship. » says Tristan Grimbert, Chairman and CEO of EDF EN North America. “Co-ownership of power plants allows us to actively pursue our development, while optimizing our investments. »
EDF Renewable Services, a subsidiary of EDF EN Canada, continues its mission as operator and manager of the Saint-Robert-Bellarmin wind farm and ensures its long-term operation and maintenance.
Saint-Robert-Bellarmin is one of seven wind projects awarded to EDF EN Canada following calls for tenders from Hydro-Québec in 2008 and 2010. By the end of 2015, EDF EN Canada will have developed and built a total of 1,003.2 MW in the province of Quebec.
