EDF Energies Nouvelles commissions the 200 MW Hereford wind farm in Texas

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the Hereford wind farm by its North American subsidiary, EDF Renewable Energy. With this new park with an installed capacity of 200 MW, the Group has commissioned more than two thirds of its one gigawatt portfolio of projects in Texas, to be built by the end of 2015.

Located in the north of the state of Texas (Panhandle), the Hereford wind farm is made up of 54 General Electric turbines and 50 Vestas turbines with respective unit capacities of 1.85 MW and 2 MW. The energy production of the Hereford fleet is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 55,000 American homes.

The electricity produced is sold on the local free electricity market ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) and benefits from a long-term price risk hedging contract for part of the production.

The operation and maintenance of the new wind installation is carried out by EDF Renewable Services, the American subsidiary of EDF Renewable Energy dedicated to this activity.

After Spinning Spur 1 (161 MW), Bobcat Bluff (150 MW) and Spinning Spur 2 (161 MW), the Hereford wind farm represents the Group's fourth wind installation to be commissioned in Texas. To date, EDF Energies Nouvelles has completed 672 MW of the one gigawatt portfolio to be built by 2015, in this state of the United States.
