EDF Energies Nouvelles commissions a 115 MWp solar power plant in Chile

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the Santiago Solar photovoltaic power plant (115 MWp), in Chile. This new large-scale solar installation in the country contributes to the EDF Group's CAP 2030 strategy, which aims in particular to double its renewable capacities by 2030 in France and internationally.

The Santiago Solar photovoltaic plant is located almost 50 km north of the country's capital, in the heart of Chile's main center of electricity consumption.

Made up of around 400,000 modules, it extends over more than 200 hectares. The energy production of the solar plant is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of more than 90,000 Chilean homes.

Santiago Solar benefits from a 15-year electricity sales contract with the main Chilean distributors. Part of the electricity produced is sold on the spot market.
The installation is jointly owned equally by EDF Energies Nouvelles and AME (Andes Mining Energy), a Chilean infrastructure developer. It is connected to the National Electric System (SEN – Sistema Electrico Nacional).

Chile has an exceptional level of sunshine, among the best in the world.

Santiago Solar is the second large-scale solar project by EDF Energies Nouvelles to produce energy in the country after the Bolero photovoltaic plant (146 MWp), commissioned in 2017.

Established in Chile since 2015, EDF Energies Nouvelles today has a portfolio of 360 MW of solar and wind capacity in operation and under construction.
