EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of Spinning Spur 3 wind farm (194 MW) in Texas by its North American subsidiary, EDF Renewable Energy. The group passes the threshold of a gigawatt of installed wind energy capacity in Texas.
Spinning Spur 3 is located nearby Amarillo, Texas. This 194 MW wind farm is comprised of 97 Vestas turbines, each with a rated capacity of 2 MW.
The energy production is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of around 58,200 Texas homes.
The electricity generated by the wind farm is sold to two Texan municipalities at a fixed price, under long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Following on from Spinning Spur 1 and 2 (161 MW each), Bobcat Bluff (150 MW), Hereford (200 MW) and Longhorn (200 MW), Spinning Spur 3 is the sixth wind farm to be commissioned by EDF Energies Nouvelles in Texas .
To date, the Group has completed 1,066 MW of wind power in this US state.
