EDF Energies Nouvelles reaches the gigawatt of wind energy installed in Texas thanks to the commissioning of a 194 MW park

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the Spinning Spur 3 wind farm (194 MW) in Texas by its American subsidiary EDF Renewable Energy. The group thus passes the threshold of one gigawatt of installed wind energy capacity in Texas.

Spinning Spur 3 is located near Amarillo, Texas. This 194 MW wind farm is made up of 97 Vestas wind turbines with a unit power of 2 MW.

The production is equivalent to the annual electricity needs of approximately 58,200 American homes.

The electricity produced by the park is sold at a fixed price to two Texas municipalities, as part of a long-term electricity supply contract.

After Spinning Spur 1 and 2 (161 MW each), Bobcat Bluff (150 MW), Hereford (200 MW) and Longhorn (200 MW), Spinning Spur 3 represents the sixth EDF Energies Nouvelles wind farm built in the state of Texas.

To date, the group has commissioned 1,066 MW of wind power in this state of the United States.
