EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the Green Rigg wind farm by EDF Energy Renewables in England.
With a capacity of 36 MW, the Green Rigg wind farm is located in the Northumberland region, near the village of Otterburn. It is equipped with eighteen turbines, with a unit power of 2 MW, supplied by the manufacturer Vestas. The annual production of this park is equivalent to the electricity consumption of around 19,000 homes.
The Green Rigg project was developed by EDF Energy Renewables in partnership with Wind Prospect. EDF Energy Renewables, a joint venture owned equally by EDF Energies Nouvelles and EDF Energy, was created in 2008 to serve the shared ambitions of the two companies in the renewable energy market in the United Kingdom.
“ The Green Rigg wind farm has been successfully commissioned and complements our portfolio of operating assets », declares Christian Egal, Managing Director of EDF Energy Renewables. “ I would like to salute the work of the teams and the fruitful collaboration with local communities.”
This new achievement strengthens the presence of the EDF group in the United Kingdom and increases its installed renewable capacity in the country to 300 MW.
