EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the end of the construction of the Teesside offshore wind farm in the United Kingdom

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the completion of the Teesside offshore wind farm built by EDF Energy Renewables, a joint subsidiary of EDF Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles, and the commissioning of the first 13 wind turbines of this 62 MW plant . The commissioning of the entire park should take place in the summer of 2013. This benchmark project positions the EDF group as a key player in offshore wind power in Europe.

The 27 wind turbines of the Teesside wind farmmanufactured by Siemens, were installed off the coast of Redcar, in the north-east of England. The offshore project, begun in February 2012 with the installation of monopile foundations, is being completed with the gradual connection of all the turbines to the electricity network, before commissioning of the park planned for the summer of 2013 .

Co-owned by EDF Energy and EDF Renewable Energies and managed by their joint subsidiary EDF Energy Renewables, the Teesside wind farm was taken over in its entirety by the Group which controlled the entire development, engineering and construction process. “The Teesside wind farm demonstrates our industrial know-how in offshore wind power. With the completion of this project, we affirm our position as a key player in offshore wind power and we are confident in our ability to undertake new projects. new projects on the British and French markets.” declares Antoine Cahuzac, Managing Director of EDF Energies Nouvelles.

EDF Energies Nouvelles has been present in offshore wind power for more than 10 years. Strengthened by its participation from the start of the C-Power offshore wind project, the company benefits from the experience of a first park of 325 MW in Belgium of which 215 MW are in service and the last tranche of 110 MW in phase final construction.

With the completion of the Teesside wind farm, EDF Energies Nouvelles confirms its ambition in offshore wind power. The Group will continue its growth in Europe with new projects which will be characterized by a change in scale.

In Great Britain, the Navitus Bay project, with a potential capacity of 1,100 MW, is being developed in partnership with Eneco Wind UK Ltd. In France, three projects totaling nearly 1,400 MW are also being developed within a consortium of which EDF EN is leader, and are the subject of public debates from March to July 2013.
