EDF Energies Nouvelles expands two wind farms in Portugal

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the Ventominho (additional 23 MW) and Arga (additional 4.7 MW) extensions, two of the wind assets that the company owns in Portugal.
This additional 27.7 MW brings the company's cumulative installed capacity in the country to 535 MW gross.

Respectively in service since 2008 and 2006, the Ventominho and Arga wind farms are located in the northwest of Portugal, near the Spanish border.

  • The Ventominho wind farm receives 10 additional turbines in addition to the 120 already installed, thus increasing from 240 MW to 263 MW of installed power.
  • The Arga wind farm receives two additional turbines in addition to the 12 already installed, thus increasing from 36 MW to 40.7 MW of installed power.

The annual production of the two wind installations is now equivalent to the electricity consumption of nearly 245,000 Portuguese homes.

These wind farms are jointly owned by EDF Energies Nouvelles, Eolverde and DST.

To date, EDF Energies Nouvelles operates 535 MW of gross wind capacity in the country, via its local subsidiary EDF EN Portugal.
