EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the acquisition of the Dorenell wind project in Scotland by its British subsidiary, EDF Energy Renewables, which will ensure its construction.
This large-scale project, with a minimum capacity of 177 MW, will ultimately be the largest onshore park built by the group in the United Kingdom.
The Dorenell wind project is located in the eastern Highlands, in the Moray region of Scotland. In 2011, it benefited from authorizations from the Scottish government for a capacity of 177 MW.
The future wind farm could, however, reach an installed capacity of more than 200 MW, subject to obtaining two extension authorizations.
The electricity generated by the wind installation will be equivalent to the annual energy needs of 122,000 to 138,000 Scottish homes, depending on the final size and features of the project.
The acquisition and subsequent construction of this project further strengthens the positions of EDF Energies Nouvelles in Scotland, a British territory with strong ambitions in the field of renewable energies.
