EDF Energies Nouvelles acquires the Chestnut Flats wind project (38 MW) in the United States

enXco, the American subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, announces the signing of an agreement with Gamesa Energy USA, to acquire 100% of the capital of the Chestnut Flats Wind project company and all the assets it holds. The acquisition, subject to customary conditions precedent, is expected to be finalized by the end of 2011.

The Chestnut Flats wind project, developed and built by Gamesa Energy USA, is located in the town of Logan, in Blair County, northwest of Altoona, Pennsylvania. It has eighteen G90 turbines and one G87 turbine supplied by Gamesa, with a unit capacity of two megawatts. The American electricity company Delmarva Power and Light, a subsidiary of the energy company Pepco Holdings Inc., will purchase the energy produced under a 20-year electricity sales contract.
This acquisition constitutes EDF EN's first wind power plant in Pennsylvania. It will strengthen the group's production capacities and its position in the United States.
