EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the signing of a so-called “virtual” electricity supply contract (VPPA: Virtual Power Purchase Agreement) between its local subsidiary, EDF Renewable Energy, and Kimberly-Clark Corporation, covering 120 of the 154 MW of the project Rock Falls wind farm.
The commissioning of the future park, currently under construction in the state of Oklahoma, is scheduled for December 2017.
The Rock Falls wind farm project, with a total capacity of 154 MW, is located in the northeast of the state of Oklahoma, in Kay and Grant counties.
Electricity generated by 120 MW of the facility will be purchased by Kimberly-Clark Corporation under a long-term VPPA. This type of so-called “virtual” electricity supply contract allows the company to offset its carbon emissions without the installation of renewable origin being physically connected to its activities.
Rock Falls is EDF Energies Nouvelles' second wind project in Oklahoma, after the Great Western wind farm, commissioned in 2016, providing electricity to Google.
Through this contract, Kimberly-Clark joins major companies that trust EDF Renewable Energy, including Google, Microsoft, Salesforce, Procter & Gamble, Walmart and Yahoo.
With 9 gigawatts of projects developed, EDF Renewable Energy is among the leaders of the North American renewable energy market
