EDF Renewables acquires a portfolio of 300 MW of wind projects under development in Germany

EDF Renewables announces the acquisition of a portfolio of wind projects with a capacity of around 300 MW currently under development in Germany, from Altus AG, a German player very well established in this sector. Altus AG will continue the development of these projects in close collaboration with EDF Renewables until the start of construction of the future wind farms.

Located in ten different Länder, the projects are at various stages of development.
Land leases have been concluded and environmental studies are underway.
After obtaining all the required authorizations, the projects will participate in calls for tenders organized by the German federal state with a view to securing electricity sales contracts over twenty years.

The commissioning of the wind farms is expected to take place within the next five years.

The acquisition of these onshore wind projects is part of EDF Renewables' strategy to develop, build, own and operate long-term renewable energy installations in Germany. This country, the first in Europe in terms of installed renewable energy capacity, represents a major market for the company which wishes to become a significant player in wind power there by 2030.

EDF Renewables already operates more than 580 MW of wind farms through subsidiaries, including 400 MW of offshore wind capacity as a provider of maintenance services. In 2018, EDF Renewables built and commissioned its first project to refurbish an end-of-life facility (“ repowering ») in Thuringia.

Frédéric Belloy, Executive Vice-President for International Operations of EDF Renewables, declares: “ We are delighted to enter into this partnership with Altus around the development of this portfolio of large-scale wind projects. This operation offers EDF Renewables the opportunity to strengthen its positions in terms of project development in Germany, a country whose objective is to increase the share of renewables in electricity consumed to 65 % by 2030 (compared to 27.4 1TP3Q in 2014). Reaching this new milestone in Germany is also part of the EDF Group's CAP 2030 strategy, which aims to double, between 2015 and 2030, its renewable capacities in France and around the world. ".
