As part of a multi-technology auction (RES) launched by the Greek Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE), EDF Renewables' subsidiary in the country was awarded a contract to purchase long-term electricity (Power Purchase Agreement), relating to a photovoltaic solar project with a capacity of 60 MWp.
This project contributes to the objectives of the EDF Group's CAP 2030 strategy, which aims to double, between 2015 and 2030, its renewable capacities worldwide, to reach 50 GW.
The Loutsa solar project (60 MWp) will extend over 82 hectares in the Boeotia region, near Athens. Its commissioning is planned by 2022 and it will benefit from a 20-year electricity purchase contract at a rate of €53/MWh.
Present in the country since 2005, EDF Renewables is currently the 4th largest player in the renewable market in Greece, with a total gross installed capacity of nearly 277 MW across 17 installations, including 265 MW of wind and 12 MWp of solar.
The company also carries out an operation and maintenance activity there via its local subsidiary, EDF Renouvelables Services Greece, which manages 286 MW* of renewable energy installations, for its own account and third party accounts.
