EDF Energies Nouvelles commissions the first 150 MW of the Rivière-du-Moulin wind farm in Quebec

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the first phase of the Rivière-du-Moulin wind farm (150 MW) by its local subsidiary, EDF EN Canada.

Located in Quebec, the first unit of Rivière-du-Moulin with an installed capacity of 150 MW, is made up of 75 Senvion turbines of 2 MW of unit power. The production of this wind farm is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of nearly 35,000 homes.

The energy produced by Rivière-du-Moulin is purchased by Hydro-Québec Distribution as part of a 20-year electricity contract.
The management of the operation and maintenance of the park is ensured by EDF Renewable Services, the North American subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles.

By the end of 2015, the second unit of Rivière-du-Moulin (200 MW) should be commissioned, bringing the total installed capacity of the wind farm to 350 MW. The Rivière-du-Moulin wind installation would thus become the most powerful in Canada under a single electricity contract.

The Rivière-du-Moulin project is one of seven wind turbine installations in the one gigawatt program won as part of Hydro-Québec Distribution's calls for tenders.
