EDF Energies Nouvelles wins three renewable electricity sales contracts in Canada

EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the signing of three long-term electricity supply contracts (PPA: Power Purchase Agreement), with a cumulative power of 82 MW.
The electricity will come from two solar projects and one wind project located in the province of Ontario in Canada.
These contracts relate to the purchase of electricity by IESO, Independent Electricity System Operator in Ontario (IESO: Independent Electricity System Operator).

As part of its Procurement of Large Renewable Energy Projects (AGER) program, IESO has awarded three PPAs with a duration of 20 years to EDF EN Canada, the subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles in the country.
Launched in 2013 by the Ontario government, AGER aims to promote the development of renewable energies in the province, while respecting consultation with local communities and seeking to create value for the territory.

Three new renewable energy installations will be built by EDF EN Canada, in this North American province, a leader in terms of renewable energy development.

•The Pendleton (12 MW*) and Barlow (10 MW*) solar projects span over 56 and 40 hectares respectively in the Eastern Ontario region. An engaging partnership links, in particular, the local subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles to the community of the Algonquin First Nation of Pikwakanagan, for local economic development.

•The Romney wind project (60 MW) is located in the southwest of the Canadian province. EDF EN Canada is notably associating the community of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation with this project.

With a combined installed capacity of 82 MW, these three installations will provide electricity to approximately 30,000 Ontario homes annually.

*The installed capacity of the Pendleton and Barlow solar projects is expressed in MW, a unit of measurement for alternating current.
22 MW is equivalent to approximately 28 MWp (direct current).
