EDF Energies Nouvelles is announcing the commissioning of the Pilot Hill wind farm in Illinois by its North American subsidiary, EDF Renewable Energy. The power generated by this 175 MW wind farm is purchased by Microsoft Corporation.
Located around 60 miles from Chicago in north-eastern Illinois, the 175 MW Pilot Hill wind farm is equipped with 103 turbines.
The electricity generated by this new facility is supplied to Microsoft Corporation to power its Illinois data centre under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement.
EDF Renewable Energy announced a similar agreement with Procter & Gamble in October 2015. The subsidiary is responding to the growing demand from large-scale US corporate and industrial entities looking to harness renewable energy for their business operations.
With close to 2.7 GW in gross installed capacity in the United States of America and agreements in place with renowned US corporations, EDF Energies Nouvelles’ local subsidiary is a reference in the renewable energies sector.
